Thank you all for the DMs on instagram and emails with questions for my first solo episode on I LIke Your Work! I asked what you guys wanted to hear about in the last episode and there were a lot of great topics that were sent to me, many of which I will save for future solo podcast episodes. The one topic that popped up repeatedly was that of the artist parent and, "How do I get fill-in-the-blank” ie artist assistantships, grants, residencies etc. I think all of these are really important topics so today I decided to focus on where I feel they overlap.
In this episode, I focus on finding flexible stability in the arts. I share personal stories and my experience as to what I have done to support myself financially. I feel that stability allows you to be an artist parent and to have the time and resources to apply to all the amazing things you want to be a part of. This is by no means the only way you can find stability. I am just sharing my own personal experiences and what I have learned over the years.
I hope you enjoy the episode and if you have any resources you would like to share please feel free to email me (erikabhess@gmail.com) or send me a DM on instagram @ilikeyourworkpodcast. Thank you all for your support!
