Artist Angela Conant: Curosity as Necessity

This week I talk to the artist Angela Conant. Angela is an artist who lives and works in

Brooklyn, NY. I became familiar with Angela’s work recently when we were on a panel together at Boston University. I enjoy looking at her work bc it has such a meditative quality. Angela works fluidly across mediums, from marble sculpture to paintings and video. Her work parodies the politics of gender and media. Part of the reason I react so strongly to her work is the fact that the work contains social commentary in a reflective sense. It is the opposite of our currently over-amped media world. From her sculptures to videos, to her interactive installation pieces, there is a quiet strength that I read in her work.

In this conversation we cover a lot of bases from how to manage time, working collaboratively, starting artist spaces, exploring unfamiliar mediums and curation.
